Hi everyone,
I did an export from Vred 2023 using Datasmith. My car body has a cut out for charging. When I import it into Unreal Engine 5 the body mesh is imported as an old version of the mesh although in Vred is correct and fully optimized.
When you export from VRED do you see any error message?
Are you rewriting on an existing fbx file? One thing in mind is that exports fails but does not replace a old fbx file.
In VRED did you replace the uncut body with cut body? Or both of them are there but one hidden in some way? did you check in UE if you maybe have the two version of the geometry imported? Hide the uncut body to make sure the cut one is not under.
Datasmith exporter triggers the “save as fbx” function of VRED, so you can try loading that FBX with another application (e.g. blender) and see if you get cut or uncut geometry. That will allow us understand if it is an FBX in UE import issue or FBX export from VRED issue.
I think it’s because in Vred we have some "clones. And usually these models are from Alias Autodesk in .wire and we drawn the body in symmetry so in vred we keep the mirrored parts. But in export, we loose these morrired part because youcan’t applied this “modifier” as in blender during the export for exemple
