Hello. We need The Datasmith Exporter plugin for SOLIDWORKS 2025 please.
When will it be downloadable?
It will be officially available with 5.6 in some months, no ETA yet.
If you already had the plugin installed for solidworks 2024 and you did not remove it when you updated to solidworks 2025, you might already have the exporter in solidworks 2025.
Would you be keen to try a not fully tested version?
Hello. Thanks for the reply! ![]()
Yes I had uninstalled it last November. I tried to install the 5.5.1.0 version and it wrote : No supported version of Solidworks has been found.
Yes, I would like to test your not fully tested version.
Best regards,
You could try this and let us know. Again it has not yet been properly tested.
You will have to replace it with official 5.6.0 when it is out.
Hello!
I have downloaded and installed successfully your last SW Plugin.
I open and save one of my projects with no problem.
For this one, I have no issue. Everything is fine!
Thank you so much. I will have a plugin now, and will wait for a future update.
Thank you for your fast and useful reply. Regards!
Hello!
Is there a plugin for solidworks 2025 available by now?
I tried the test version, but it does not import all solidworks parts.
Datasmith Exporter Not Detecting SolidWorks 2024 (Windows 10)
Hey everyone,
I’ve been trying to install the Unreal Datasmith Exporter for SolidWorks on Windows 10 , but I keep getting the same message every time:
“No supported version of SolidWorks has been found.”
I have SolidWorks 2024 SP5 fully installed and running fine, but the exporter just doesn’t detect it.
I’ve tried every version of Datasmith — from 4.27 all the way up to 5.6 — and none of them work.
System Setup
-
OS: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
-
SolidWorks: 2024 SP5
-
Unreal Datasmith Exporter for SolidWorks: every version from 4.27 → 5.6 tested
-
Unreal Engine: 5.6.1
-
User permissions: running all installers and SolidWorks as Administrator
The Error
During installation of the Datasmith Exporter, the installer always stops with this message:
“No supported version of SolidWorks has been found.”
—even though SolidWorks 2024 is fully installed and working perfectly.
What We Verified
-
Registry entries exist under HKLM
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2024with correct keys like:
ProductVersion = "32.5.0" InstallationDirectory = "C:\\Program Files\\SOLIDWORKS Corp\\SOLIDWORKS" DisplayName = "SOLIDWORKS 2024"So the registry detection should work.
-
SolidWorks was launched at least once before installing Datasmith.
-
Installer was run as Administrator each time.
-
Tried moving/copying registry entries between
HKEY_CURRENT_USER↔HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE→ no effect. -
Checked for multiple SolidWorks versions → only 2024 is installed.
-
Disabled antivirus and Windows Defender during install.
-
Verified all previous Datasmith Exporter versions were completely uninstalled before each new attempt.
-
I even manually checked the folders:
C:\Program Files\Epic Games\ C:\ProgramData\Epic\→ No leftover Datasmith files or installers were found.
Clean environment confirmed.
-
-
Re-downloaded and tested all Datasmith builds (from 4.27 up to 5.6) — every one shows the same error.
Conclusion
Even with:
-
Correct registry keys
-
Clean system (no older Datasmith versions present)
-
Proper admin privileges
-
Latest supported versions
…the Datasmith Exporter still fails to detect SolidWorks 2024 on Windows 10.
This strongly indicates a version-detection bug in the current installer for newer SolidWorks builds (2024 / 2025).
Has anyone here actually managed to get the Datasmith Exporter working with SolidWorks 2024 (especially on Windows 10)?
If yes, could you please share which version or method worked for you?
