Hi! I’m Guido, I love creating environments and this time I’m going to make one about gothic ruins. I’ll explain the whole process. Any feedback is welcome! This project is for an indie game I’m working on. It’s a dark fantasy rpg game called Dogma.
I will create an environment of some gothic ruins using the painting of The Winter (Eldena) as the main reference.
Environment:
(This artwork is created by ArtStation - Jonathon Gregory Bick . AMAZING ENVIRONMENTS)
Props:
They are ordered by priority.
Here are some images of blocking, by this Thursday I will have the base mesh finished, props and structures, so I can have the whole scene ready and start sculpting in Z Brush.
Hello @twittermintozg ! Welcome back to posting with us here on the forums!
I think gothic style ruins are some of the more beautiful ruins due to the detail and elaborate structures that tell stories. So far, I think you’ve captured such a wonderful beginning by using your reference work well. I’m very excited to see further development!
Thank you so much! I still remember your comments from my other project published here. Thanks for being there, I appreciate it.
Currently, I am creating the staff that will be used by the protagonist of the game, which I will later display next to my environment. Due to some GameJams I couldn’t be very present here, but I’m back here
I promise to show very good progress for next Sunday, and now yes with the environment!
Hi there @twittermintozg,
Hope you’re well and having a great week so far
That staff alone makes me immensely interested. I’m not typically an RPG enjoyer but the world environment for this looks phenomenal so far. Do you have any cool game details you could share with us?
Hello back! Sorry I’m missing, I just don’t post often here. I promise to keep posting
- I changed the landscape to one more in line with my references, I also made progress in terms of vertex painting and dressing
We currently do not have any social networks in use. Therefore, it is a ghost project, let’s say. It is a turn-based RPG with combat similar to Dragon Quest but more dynamic and with more realistic style graphics. As soon as we have something on a social network, which is soon, I will publish it!
This looks so good! This looks almost exactly what I remember imagining while playing the original Final Fantasy or Zelda games as a little kid.
Oh great! Sounds awesome Happy developing until then!
Thanks for that comment! I’m glad that it looks familiar to you, personally I never played Zelda but I’ll take a look on the internet to see if I can find a similar area! I hope to see you here when I finish it
Thank you! Very kind
Finish the dressing! Now we have to improve lighting things. Here I bring you a small lighting studio that I did based on the game Wukong as a reference.
and my BEST SHOT, I think it looks amazing. I really like how it looks and I still have to polish it even more but it’s on the right track.
Hello again @twittermintozg !
After catching up with the updates, I’m amazed. I know the Wukong game was praised for it’s lighting so I’m glad to see you were able to replicate it. Each screenshot we see highlights what feels like this cinematic world. I’m very impressed with how far it’s come and cannot wait to see more!
Thank you! I really appreciate the comments and I love how it looks. Currently, I’m working on a single shot to try to make it as good as possible. This is how it turns out. its W.I.P
