damage numbers drawn above all else?

Is it possible to have actor with material that is drawn last (above all other geometry)?
I want create damage numbers flowing from enemies but the actor with numbers is quite often flying into nearby environment.

Or, is there any other way to accomplish this?

Draw it in the HUD instead of within the world?

hmm, good idea, buuttt… how would i go about it to get this done?
