After a long time I was finally able to finish this piece “Dadar Bari”, meaning “Grandfather’s House” in Bengali. As the name implies, it’s the house my late grandfather built in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His intentions, very Bengali-like, was for the whole family and the future grandkids to all live in the building, but life sometimes just turns out differently and me now born and raised in Sweden figured that I could maybe recreate my own piece of this on my side of the world instead.
This project took the wind out of me a bit, I wanted to only recreate the house but it was so hard to make a viable crop of the scene without losing the sense of it being in a big city. I got to a point where I was disliking every part of the piece, but eventually I asked friends for some feedback, but I asked for more feedback regarding what I wanted to achieve, as in sense of getting more life and getting the whole piece to fit with one another. I got some really great feedback and ideas and was finally able to get this done.
