Cycled - an ever-changing roguelike game

Hey all!

Cycled is a dungeon crawler set in a world of intersecting realities with two-hero combos and ever-changing challenges. Your goal is to unite the fractured world starting with two characters you control. Make them stronger together, adapt to constant changes and exploit them to reach the epicenter of the Cataclysm.

I’ve been developing this game with my brother for two years and it’s about half a year away from being completed. Cycled is our first game and thanks to UE4 and its community it turned into something better than we could have imagined.

We’ve learned a lot and developed our own solutions based on that. Like optimized worlds shifting with many objects and different lightning or interactive grass that can be affected by any mesh (a bit dated demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9YN7bTJznA).

And we want to repay. If you have any questions about these or any other aspects of the game, go ahead and ask.

If you are interested in the project, add it to your wishlist: Cycled on Steam

Or follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/TwistedNail

The exposure is what we lack the most right now, but if you feel like helping to make the game better here is email: mail@twisted-nail.com

Thank you!

How is it going?

We improved the transition between worlds with some blending in:

newWave

And I thought it’s a chance to mention how the wave itself is represented.

To ensure that it looks good and the same no matter where it’s coming from the wave is added through post-processing controlled by a material parameter collection. And swirly animated things are just a simple texture that thanks to rapidity of the wave creates an illusion of motion.

Hey!
We finished working on the cinematic part of a new trailer. It’s 3d scenes in UE4 that has gone through some filters in a graphics editor. What do you think?

Hey everyone!

We have news that we cannot help but share.
Our game won Best Unreal Engine Game award at Indie Cup S’21. And now you can help us figure out how this could have happened by playing demo on Steam:

Feedback is welcome!
