CuzImExige - Advanced Fur Material Shader Shell Render System

A fur material shader made with a shell render system that can be used for any mesh. It allows for a realistic looking, but performant fur material.

Features:

  • Color can be varied within range by position, reducing the amount of material instances needed for variation (See photo 2).

  • Change in length, texture, texture size and random displacement.

  • Multiple fur types included and more can easily be added.

  • LODs to improve performance.

  • No need to suffer looks for performance.

  • Blueprint for general meshes and Actor Component for other blueprints.

Hello, I just tried out the product and it does NOT seem to be setup for any Unreal version earlier than 5.6 (the product page says it will work with Unreal 5.0 - 5.6). Opening up the project in anything lower than 5.6 causes the usual “invisible” assets (assets are in the content folder visible through explorer, but invisible in-editor). It does not matter what Unreal Engine version you select when clicking on the asset to make a new project either). It also seems to have been uploaded to the marketplace incorrectly, as it generates a folder in a strange order. Is there a way you can upload the 5.0 asset instead so that it will run correctly in all of the engine versions you stated it would? Thanks.

I’m sorry to hear this, I will take a look at it asap! If you feel unsatisfied, feel free to refund your purchase. This is my first ever Fab listing so might not have gotten everything exactly right unfortunately

Hello, can you, please, make a video demostrating the asset?
I would like to know how this material looks in a character.

I guess this is not a POM based material, right? No nanite or similar needed (As a friendly advice, more technical details in the product’s page would be great, and even better a link to the documentation).
I do not buy anything without a video or documentation on the product page , and many people do the same. You might get more sales, because your product looks good.

Thank you in advance.

Hi! First off, thanks for the advice  will definitely look into it. This system does not work on skeletal meshes as UE does not support instanced skeletal meshes. A workaround for this (if your character mesh is simple) is to create a few cubes or similar and attach them to bones. This is very hacky but looks fine on simple meshes. Nanite is not needed to use this material and it does not use POM.

I am unfortunately unable to create a video currently but can look into it in the future! Thanks

Hello. I’d like to purchase this asset for use in Unreal Engine 5.4, but is it not compatible yet?
Is it only compatible with version 5.6?
Will you be updating it in the future to be compatible with earlier versions?
I apologize for all the questions!

Hi again. No worries just keep asking  It was originally made in a 5.4 project but when I remade it to release here, I made it in 5.6. Unreal unfortunately isn’t backwards compatible which means I will have to remake the system again in an older version for it to work on all older versions after that.

To clarify, if you purchase this system now, you can copy the code over by hand to an older version and everything should work fine (I have used in in unreal 5.3 so anything after should be fine). Otherwise I will update it in the future (probably far future as I have little time atm).
