Custome node for material and plane, need help

I’m trying to make a game like eu4.

I understood how it works so far. The first step I made is to use a png(the material) with the provices(with all the colors) and stick it on a plane, before I make the edge detection shader I need to apply some logic on the material and plane.

Someone told me to use custome nodes for material and to add variables inside this custom expression node(I don’t know how to and he doesn’t know what custome node).

And something about POST PROCESSING which I don’t know what it is.
