Custom MUD client in UE?

I am a staff member on CyberASSAULT – a text based MMORPG that has been around since the early 90’s. Since gaming has taken such giant leaps in the last 20 years, our community of text-based gamers has become very small to say the least. But still, there is something to a MUD that keeps you coming back for more. So heres the idea…

MUD’s are played usually via a telnet client or a program made specifically to play these types of games. you connect with a server and port and enter commands in a command line. like zork.
how hard would it be to replicate that functionality within unreal engine.
