Custom animations

So im dabbling with unreal, and I want to add in custom animations, would it be possible to edit the third person template character and give him new animations? Like crouch, a better jumploop and jump land pose etc… Just so i can try my hand at animating a pre-made character, in preparation for adding my own. Can’t seem to find this topic anywhere.

Any hlep would be appreciated thanks.

Just export the character as a fbx file - open it in a 3d program - do what you want to do - import it again

Is it that easy? haha! For example, I can export the character as an fbx, open it in maya 2014 / blender, edit the animations and just save the fbx? In theory that sounds simple but I know upon trying this I will be greeted by a bajillion little speedbumps that will test my patience  Thanks a lot for the information, eventually I will post something ive made rather than pick everyones brains for random info ha!

Quick update, I exported the HeroTPP and opened it in maya (totally not keen on this program! I guess its just the unfamiliar layout) and I see the model, i see some line from his han d to foot IK hand root, ok that makes a little sense… but where do i find the animations of idle walk run etc? i just have a t pose model with no keyframes. Again sorry if these are the most noobish questions ever, I’m an illustrator more than an animator/developer. Thanks again

I dont know how it works in maya, but you will also have to export the animations. After that import them separately.

Well after much faffing about, I exported the idle anim from the anim blueprints inside UE4, imported the fbx into maya, and now we have an animated skeleton and no mesh  and thanks to recent input from another member, I understand that i just throw this set of bones onto my char and it will work, so I think we may have sussed it! Thanks a lot for your help
