Quite a few Engineering firms are using these two apps to create/build conceptual designs for projects...would be nice to be able to export to datasmith file for import, and or Direct Link.
Hi ,
I believe Infraworks is being explored for a potential plugin by the Datasmith team, although I don't have any additional information to share beyond that.
For Bentley ConceptStation, I don't believe any plugins are being developed internally, but Bentley had developed and maintained their own Datasmith plugin for ITwin to Unreal Engine. I'm not familiar with the functionality of this, and whether it will work well with Twinmotion, but it is possible Bentley may develop a plugin themselves given the demand.
For any plugins you'd like to see the Datasmith team deliver, please submit an idea on the public roadmap here, as that's the best place to make requests of this kind.
Best,
Raghib
I am pretty sure Engineering Consulting firms performing work for the Departments of Transportation (DOTs) in all 50 states are either using Infraworks, OpenRoads Conceptstation, or both for Conceptualizing projects and Visualizations for Stakeholder and Public Engagement. Also, within those State DOTs there are several engineers who use those tools internally as well … not just the consultants.
Bentley is developing an iTwin for Unreal plugin, but I think only a fraction of engineers would be willing or interested in making the leap into Unreal due to its complexity. The rest would probably adopt Twinmotion due to its simplicity.
AutoDesk has a Revit for Cesium plugin that can be used to stream Revit models into Unreal from a Cesium Ion account, but I have not seen any plugins for Infraworks.
Could a plugin or connector that leverages the Infrawaorks SQlite database to generate geometry and textures directly in the Unreal Editor be developed … or does one exist?
