Crossfade a list of tracks with a sound cue

Hello,

I’m looking for a way to crossfade music randomly.

For now, I created a sound cue where I have several music tracks attached to a random node (the original theme plus two arrangements).

I’d like to crossfade each track so at the end of the music, there won’t be any silence.

Is this possible directly in the sound cue ?

thanks for your help.

Hello Mexy,

Currently there is no way to do a linear cross-fade within the Sound Cue Editor. The issue with cross-fading is that volume perception is non-linear. If you want it to sound like it’s a linear fade-in/out, you have to do it in dB. Linear interopolation with volume will not sound correct since we deal with volume in linear units. For example, going from 0.0 to 1.0 in 10 seconds versus -60dB to 0 dB in 10 seconds.

With that being said, you can control your random sounds through blueprints and if you add the correct logic for fading in and fading out, you will get the results you are looking for. I have provided a link below to get yourself started on the right path.
