Critical issue in UEFN: trap devices are not persisting in Live Edit, disappearing after placement and blocking the creation of trap-based maps.

Hello Fortnite developers,

During regular use of Live Edit in UEFN, I’ve encountered a critical issue affecting trap devices that significantly impacts map development.

Summary

Trap devices placed during Live Edit sessions do not persist correctly. They may disappear after pushing changes or even without any push, making them unreliable for gameplay systems.

Details

  • Traps placed on structures (walls, floors, etc.) appear normally at first

  • After using Push Changes, traps may disappear completely

  • Traps can also disappear randomly during the session without any push

  • The issue worsens over time: the more pushes are made, the more traps are removed

  • It appears that trap devices are not properly saved or synchronized in Live Edit

Impact

This issue is highly disruptive and blocks the development of maps relying on traps, especially deathruns, where traps are a core gameplay mechanic.

In my case, this problem has persisted for about a month and has made it impossible to continue building a trap-based map despite multiple workaround attempts.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch a Live Edit session in UEFN

  2. Place structures (walls, floors, etc.)

  3. Add trap devices to those structures

  4. Push Changes

  5. Observe traps disappearing

Expected Result

Trap devices should remain placed and persist correctly after pushing changes and throughout the Live Edit session.

Observed Result

Trap devices disappear after pushing changes or randomly during the session, as if they were never placed.

Platform

PC (UEFN)

Additional Notes

  • Issue seems specific to Live Edit mode

  • Occurs consistently across sessions

  • No reliable workaround found so far
