CRITICAL BUG - Clicking on Landscape tool causes UEFN to completely freeze!

Summary

When i am working in UEFN, the moment i click on the landscape tool to work on my environment, UEFN completely freezes and does not work.

The only way for me to fix it is for me to completely restart my PC and open it again.
But if i try landscape again, the same issue happens.

My island is quite large.

Additional Notes

This has only been happening since yesterdays update

Having the same issue

Yeah its a huge issue which needs addressing ASAP
I’ve verified my files, updated all drivers, restarted, turned down graphics, nothing worked.

See if increasing your windows paging helps.
I have a massive paging file 200GB and loading landscape shaders took longer than normal this update.
Using the landscape tools it seems a bit more sluggish and I just crashed after using the noise and hydro tools for maybe 5 minutes.

Same issue here, I am only able to reopen UEFN by killing it in task manager.

Having the same exact problem, everytime i need to close UEFN with the Task Manager.
It started after v35.00 update.

Exact the same here, when using landscape tool for 5 min, it freeze , need task Manager to close UEFN , since the last (star wars) update

Same here, no work around can be found.

Thanks for the report, we’ll get someone to take a look.

Thank you, its a pretty major bug preventing many of us from building AT ALL.

The moment you click landscape, UEFN just freezes and the only way to fix it is restarting and opening UEFN again.

Then it happens again.

Just wanted to share some extra info.

I have Verified my files
I have turned my engine scalability to low
I have restarted UEFN
I have updated my drivers

Nothing has helped.

I have been using landscape with no issues for days. Ive tried various things to make my crash and i cannot make it happen. The only thing i would note is if you click on the output log/have it docked it can sometimes be slow initially but then catches up so maybe its something to do with that and for whatever reason my system catches up and yours in effect looks like a crash.

Let me try video what i mean

Although when docked it didnt go slow in the video the first time i tried it did but im not gunna restart my uefn to test just maybe try undock the log before opening the landscape thing… worth a try

I restarted

Its deffo slower

Yea im having the same issue. It does the same when adding water to a landscape too.

Are you using a custom landscape material? I believe it only happens with a custom landscape material.

Can we see if we can confirm this, anyone seeing this respond with whether or not you are using a custom material and whether or not you are crashing.

No just the normal epic one i didnt see anyone mention custom material so i didnt try that. Is it only custom material ?

Idk, but for example - you. You are using default and seeing minimal issues, I’ve only seen crashes/issues from people using custom ones, so it has raised a thought.

You could be correct, @Brandisnappy are you using custom materials ?

I’m not using custom materials, but I can use Landscape Mode.

This update I’m getting UEFN crashing while randomly using Noise, Flatten or Shift-Sculpt tools.
3 crashes in 1 hour, moving on to something else until it gets fixed
The landscape is heavily sculpted & paint detailed

Ive tried custom materials and normal and both crash. Ive even tried materials ive made my self which just contain base colored cliff and grass textures from the landscape folder to make it as simple as it gets but i still crash. Even using a 1x1 landscape with no material cashes crashing.

Hows the update that just happened going for you ?

The sluggishness seems to have gone and I’ve been using the Sculpt Tools without a crash for half an hour.

Ive stopped crashing when painting landscapes but if i try sculpt old ones, it crashes. If i make a new landscape and sculpt its fine until i close the editor and reopen it. Then it crashes again
