Creative 1.0 could use some updates

As someone who primarily uses Fortnite’s original Creative mode for making games, I have quite a few things I’d love to see added to the game and I’d like to list them off.

  1. Updated Guard Spawner device or a dedicated Boss Spawner: It would be nice to be able to give bosses custom names, custom dialogue, or custom abilities. I also think it would be incredibly helpful to allow you to override certain settings specific to them and set them to different classes.
  2. Loot Table Device: Currently, the only way to create a custom randomized loot table for chests is to use triggers and item granters, and it is entirely impossible for supply drops. Plus, as it currently is, it doesn’t look polished with loot spawning on the player instead of the front of the chest. A dedicated Loot Table Device would simplify the job, allow custom loot tables for other containers, and potentially even reduce the amount of space it currently takes up. A few other things to note, setting trackers to track the amount of chests opened does so for all container types except llamas and supply drops, and gold doesn’t automatically pick up when spawning on top of a player, which I find annoying.
  3. Updated Supply Drop Spawner: Simple. I think the Supply Drop Spawner could greatly benefit from an update. Even smaller additions like being able to set drop to appear strictly within an active storm circle, or being able to toggle them to drop a random item out of what’s selected (heck, even letting them be paired with the aforementioend Loot Table Device). It would be an easy change to make, but a significantly helpful one too.
  4. Pocket Item Manager: Zero Build introduced pocket items, which are just normal items you can throw down at any time that don’t take up an inventory slot, and are infinite-use held back only by a cooldown. We should have a device present in the game that lets you create your own pocket items, perhaps one that can only activate in maps with building disabled.
  5. Adding Modern Movement Settings: Creators should be able to toggle on movement settings to more closely match modern day core gamemodes. We now have free falling and the ability to toggle off fatal fall damage in Creative, so why not also make it possible to have infinite sprint when your pickaxe is out, or to aim down sights in midair with any weapon as a universal setting?
  6. Adding Missing Weapons and Items: I think Creative 1.0 would also greatly benefit from having some missing weapons and items added into the weapon selection. Weapons such as the Lancehead Pistol, Cube Splitter SMG, and missing rarities of several weapons (particularly Mythic/Exotic rarities) are completely absent from the Creative menu even after being made unavailable in core playlists. So, in my opinion, Creative 1.0 users should gain access to these to put them in their maps.
  7. Medallions, Boons, and a Reality Augment Device: The ability to add some form of perks into Creative maps always sounded so cool to me, and to be honest, I’m disappointed we never got any form of them that was present in core gamemodes at some point. Reality Augments were never given a dedicated device, Boons and Medallions were never added to the Creative menu to potentially be added into a map, and even the “Play as a Boss” feature introduced this chapter seems to be forgotten after it was omitted from every season this chapter following CH7S1. Getting access to these items could greatly enhance the potential for Creative 1.0 maps.
  8. Loot Island Device: Something I originally had never even thought of before would be a game-changer for Creative 1.0 users would be a Loot Island device, akin to what we saw throughout Chapters 4-6. Being able to have a custom Loot Island spawn anywhere on the map you want, with any objective you want, at any time you want, sounds like it would be incredibly innovative. After all, it was a nice addition to BR, so why not add it here as a possible game objective?
  9. Other Missing Devices: Creative 1.0 users could really benefit from some missing devices that, again, would allow them to implement game mechanics they currently need a full set of devices (and the knowledge to link them together) to add. In fact, some are downright impossible to implement into Creative 1.0 islands with the current selection of devices we have. Can you imagine being able to add Chapter 4’s Holo Chests, or Chapter 5’s train, or adding a Battle Bus, or even being bringing back deleted devices such as the B.R.U.T.E. Spawners? Basically, there’s a lot missing from Creative, and a lot of things that shouldn’t require you to not only know how channels work but also keep perfect track of them.
  10. Other Device Updates: I listed a few devices and how they could be updated already, but I also think there’s some more examples to be found. Just to give a few, the Teleporter should allow creators to teleport entire lobbies to a certain area at once or be toggleable to act as an ordinary permanent Rift. The Vending Machine should gain an updated version (while leaving the legacy version in the game) that functions how it would in modern BR. The Elimination Manager should get a Headshots Only option so creators aren’t forced to use Trackers instead, thereby eliminating an inconsistency in functionality. There are likely more beneficial device updates I can’t think of off the top of my head, but even these ones would do wonders.
  11. A “Kick” Option: Hosts should be able to kick other party members completely out of a map in the event that the player in question is exploiting, griefing, displaying excessively toxic behavior, or for any other reasons why it would be necessary. Currently, that ability is limited strictly to kicking players from a party.
  12. Bug Fixes: There are, of course, some bug fixes I’d greatly appreciate to see getting fixed. Bugs involving modern weapon scopes, render distance issues, and randomly ending games or sessions within Creative 1.0. These have been a problem for some time now and still have yet to be fixed.
  13. Reduced or Removed Requirements to Publish: While I get the minimum of 1,000 followers on social media is likely there to prevent the Discover tab from being flooded with poorly made maps, the tab is more or less flooded with low-effort maps anyways, being filled to the brim with repetitive and generic PvP maps or recreations of Roblox games. Having anyone be able to publish their map to the servers would probably not hurt much at this point, if at all. Besides, players wouldn’t necessarily be able to actually earn back from their maps unless they meet what are currently the requirements to publish at all. Other games such as Geometry Dash and Super Mario Maker allow players to make and publish levels without having to meet any external requirements, so why couldn’t Fortnite go the same route? That said, if Fortnite were still to require you have a sizable online presence to publish, it does need to be reduced — 1,000 followers on platforms like YouTube and Instagram aren’t easy to get, so reducing the count to 500 or even 250 would greatly help out creators who are struggling to reach the current required follower count.

Anyways, that’s all I have to go over in this post, and I’d absolutely love to see Creative 1.0 once again getting the love it deserves. While I don’t doubt UEFN is more versatile, not everyone has the knowledge or skill needed to use it as fluently as Creative 1.0, and so I think the original Creative mode should finally be given a fair chance again.
