I actually would love to see some fantasy/medieval (realistic but not necessarily period-accurate) clothing that would work on Mixamo Fuse characters.
Pretty easy to do it, I’m not an artist at all I managed to get a shirt going but got stuck in UV mapping after retopo. The jist is basically just building the shirt to the default characters’ bodies before going into it with Fuse. If you’re actually interested in that, I’d be willing to help out with the process. The great thing is that there’s essentially no rigging involved at all, which is awesome. Just model to the base character, set up “area maps” in a texture (if applicable, e.g., different fabrics and stuff on the model) and import it.
Also, separately I’d love to see a pack of APEX Cloth-enabled capes and cloaks.
I would like to see just a base human model so it can appeal to multiple different types of games. From there you can add in different clothes, armor, whatever to fit different genres
I’m not sure how I missed this thread. Awesome Portfolio Robert!
I’d like to put in my request.
For unknown reasons, many Character artists are under the impression Game Devs purchase assets from marketplace with intent to use for prototyping and demo. This is not the case for most of us. I personally would prefer to use these assets in production. Why not? The challenge is making the assets unique in some fashion, as the same assets are being used in hundreds of other games.
The solution is *characters *designed to be customized. Characters with interchangeable parts/accessories and customizable materials. Another consideration, is that many games desire to offer some form of Player Character Customization. This is a feature I would like to offer as well. Just look at the multitude of Open World Survival, MMORPGs, etc works in progress on the forum, I’m certain they all want to offer player customization its expected feature in these genres. Even games that have no customization can use a customization system to pre-fab all characters in the game.
So, I would encourage a modular approach providing Male & Female Face & Basebody with Morphs. A set Clothing Garments and materials to complete the first set. Afterwards, supplement the set with a never-ending supply of high quality head/face/basebodies shapes, armors and accessories, and materials. You could probably do well with offering a upgrade accessories/armors for the UE4 mannequin. LOL. Even if you decide to produce a certain type of Character, please produce supplemental assets for it.
Look forward to your products on the Marketplace.

Glad to see you and I are on the same page. This is an ideal goal i have been negotiating with other designers for some time now.
RBrown and I have decided to partner up to bring a customizable Human Male and Human Female character, complete with a menu system, to the Unreal Engine 4. The characters will be making use of the Character Customizer system:
You’ll not only have customizable characters with the package we are going to develop but you’ll also be able to use the menu system to customize the player and all the NPC character’s in your games. More info to follow soon as we develop.
Oh, and the menu will be pretty of course. (custom widget textures and all that jazz.)
Nightasy, I would pay a lot of money for that!! It’s like bringing Fuse into UE4 directly. Are you planning on having clothing available down the line as well?

Absolutely. Additional Hair Packs and Clothing Packs. We decided that the base package will also come with some clothing.
Really excited to be working with Nightasy! We have a lot of cool features planned for this tool and cant wait to get the official 1.0 version out to you guys. The 2 core goals we have in mind are creating complete user empowerment over all the character features and delivering AAA caliber art for you to work with. Alright more updates to come soon!
Cheers!

Now this is the sort of collaboration I’ve been waiting for.

As we get into the art development stage of this system does anyone have any specific morph requests? Please post any requests for functionality as well. Try to avoid requesting things that the system can already do however, it can already be used to customize all the NPC’s in the game as well as the player, along with Presets and the like.

Morphs for facial expressions and lip sync are super important for me personally. The ones that Fuse characters end up with when exporting are a decent example.
I love where this is going, can’t wait to se what we get for the end product but as for suggestions here are a few off the top of my head (and following a Halloween theme):
Digitigrade leggs
Monstrous Hands
Werewolf/Cat Morphs
Zombie Morph
Vampire Morph
Muscular Body
Female Chest Morph (Flat chested to Fantasy)
Tail (add-on)
Wings (add-on)
Horns (add-on)
Best case is to be able to use the same skeleton for all bipedal monsters, NPCs and Player characters.

I would like to see nice medieval characters, either civilians like a blacksmith or military ones like knights, without any fantasy elements.

Vote for this. We need realistic medieval men and women. In fact naked ones where we can use armor/clothing etc. Maybe someone can sell me?
That’s the kind of package that we are working on in fact. The character’s will be naked models (albeit without anatomy as anatomy is not permitted in the Market, think Ken/Barbie Dolls) and we will be providing a few clothing assets with the default package. In the future, post release, we will be making clothing packs with different themes, such as medieval, sci-fit, fantasy, modern, etc.
Edit: Regarding anatomy, there may be anatomical packs developed but they will be attachments and will not be sold through the marketplace. They would have to be sold through a 3rd party vendor. Full blown anatomy is not permitted on the Unreal Market. Just throwing that out there in case anyone was wondering.
Alright guys just thought i would share some super early shots of the john do default male in progress. From this base model we will begin testing are blend shape and bone scaling system soon. Its not much to look at now but much more progress coming soon.
