i am trying to follow along with a UE5 youtube tutorial and the author is creating a blank. He gets a blank project with a checkered board level. I try the same with 5.1 and I get a blank terrain which appears to be mountainous. What is happening?
It’s been changed in recent versions. To get that blank map, you can create the project as normal, and then just create a new blank level.
Result:
Is it possible to change the blank project template to automatically create an empty level when it is created instead of having to create a new level? After all if you choose to create a blank template you want to create a blank template not one with what looks like a rock landscape.
Not that I know of. The blank project refers to it’s lack of code. Every other option gives you some template code. Not many people want a black void to start- having preset lighting is really helpful.
Notice how the content browser is empty:
Thankfully creating a blank project with a blank level is easy, and it’s not something you have to do often.
