Creating asset packs for myself?

Hi everyone, I’m sure there is documentation about this, and maybe I’m using the wrong keywords but I’m having trouble finding anything so let me apologize in advance if it is right under my nose.

I’ve been using UE4 for architectural visualization and I have been collecting assets in 3ds and keeping all the fbx’s in a folder for easy importing. I’m curious if there’s a way that I can store them in a *.uasset format so I can just import them with proper scale and full materials into my scenes? Also, would this be possible using substances as materials rather than bitmaps?

I hope this made sense, thanks for the help.

You can start a project and import whatever files you want in a .uasset format. Right click on it in the content browser and hit export.

I knew it would be easy. Thanks _cDub!

But keep in mind that you can import uasset files! -> you either have to copy and paste them into the new content folder or use the “migrate tool”. Always make sure that you keep the right folder structure, otherwise you will lose some references
