Creating an Open World Game

I have been looking to create a open world game in UE4 and was wondering what would be the best way to approach this.

Ideally the game would be multiplayer but i realize that there is a ton of extra work required for that.

Basically how would i go about creating an environment that is easily scale-able for multiple people while not being impossible to load.
Also how would i handle having several people on the same map without overloading the server?

Any help would be really appreciated.

I’d say this should be your first stop.

Also keep in mind to use:

-culling
-good lods
-planned level
-low poly meshes

Thank-you, that seems to be exactly what i was looking for.

Is World Composition a UE 4.4 feature? My subscription ran out a few months ago, and I don’t have that update.

It is a 4.3 feature as well as 4.4

To be clear, it was in releases prior to 4.3, but it was an experimental tool that had to be enabled through the tool bar by going to Edit > Editor Preferences > Experimental > World Browser

With the release of 4.3 it was no longer considered experimental and was renamed to World Composition.

Thanks, guys; sadly, my subscription ran out back when there was only 4.2.1. I will keep this in mind, though
