I would like to achieve a retro CGI look in Unreal. Specifically I would like to recreate the look of Bryce 3D. Can someone offer advice on how to use Unreal materials and lighting to create the following?
-
Water
-
Marble materials
-
Lighting

you are not alone!
im currently playing around with the idea of making a Bryce 3D Styled Relaxation game.
Recreating this in Unreal Engine is very difficult. It would at least require hours playing with Materials, fog, and Lighting. I didnt attempt that yet.
I already got “Volumetric Glass”, and other Reflective Materials working. Lumen Raytracer
is required to get the Reflections. It seems to be quite good at it tho. i can provide them to you if you want.
-The clouds can be done with Some scrolling 2d textures in the sky.
-The Water is the most difficult to get working. I was unable to make a Water Material
capable of Reflecting Objects in such a Realistic Way. But it looks good enough with the
Water plugin Material.
-Bonus: I have a lot of Geometric shapes made, including various Triangles and Prisms,
and even the Toruses used in the First Example. I can provide them as well if you want.
One more cool thing to do is Using various furniture or props and Applying Bryce-like
materials on them to make more Complex scenes. I found Poly Haven a good source
for such models.
Im willing to provide help if you need. Im very excited someone is trying something similiar.
