I had a cinematic planned but a problem is that do I have to create a complete animation blueprint for the characters I’ll use or is there any other way. The characters are not intended to be used for game play, just cinematics. How do I associate animations of the characters for matinee.,
Typically with Matinee in Unreal 4 you will not use an animation blueprint at all for basic/standard cinematics. You place your SkeletalMesh in the level, create a Skeletal track in matinee, then tell it the location and animation to play using keyframes in Matinee.
You do have to import the characters and all of their animations into the game if you want to use them in Matinee. If you are pre-rendering the matinee’s into movies and don’t want to mix the game with them you could start a new project and make them in their own environment. If the Matinee plays live in the game then you will have to have the assets in the game’s project.
You CAN take advantage of blueprints and anim blueprints to make some things in Matinee easier but the basics are above /. For specific goals we can talk about those individually
