Crashing when saving light build or reflection build

My project (5.2) suddenly started to crash when I go to save after a light or reflection build? Is there any work arounds, I can’t cook my map until I bake my lights/reflections and currently unable to save after bake. Any ideas?

Try to migrate the project into a fresh project and see what happens.

Greetings @brycelynch

I’d be happy to take a look into what is causing the crash. Can you provide the crash log for me? Thanks!

Tried that.

Jesus, I hope it’s a simple fix, and that Jas can figure it out. I’ll be watching.

The process that is causing the crash. I can’t seem to get around this… with a clean map or project.

I wish I was a greater help. Was this the only version of your project?

I’m not sure if you know this, but you can ZIP your project so that if you get any fatal errors, you can just revert back to an older copy. I zip daily.

Still watching…

Thanks for that tip. Luckily, this is a project that I’ve been migrating since 2019… but for some reason this latest version (using the Oculus branch) has the issue with saving after building lights completes. I have a build data that works, just can’t add new meshes right now without have to rebuild for packaging. I’ll keep at it. Never give up.

I’ve built this oculus branch two different times on a Windows 11 machine and both version of the engine throw this exact same error. When I build this source engine on windows 10 using the same proejct/map for light build and save, I have no issues and it works as expected and does not crash. I feel like it must be related to my Win11 environment. Not sure what the difference is between the two.

It was revision control. It was enabled but not set up to a service and so when I disabled it my light map saving causing the crash went away. When I looked that errors again I noticed it couldn’t be checked out of revision control, which originally I ignored, because I knew I wasn’t running it. Oh well! Problem solved.

Hi @brycelynch

Sorry for the delay! I had been a bit under the weather this week. I am happy to see that you got the issue resolved and that you posted the solution help others who may run into similar crashes. We as community appreciate the effort! Thank you!
