Crashes when Aligning preprocessed JPG or PNG images

When aligning preprocessed pictures, RC crashes almost every time during the ‘Processing’ stage. I have tried several kinds of image formats and configurations to get it done, but none of them reached an acceptable success rate.

The different configurations were:
Input: JPG images with EXIF tags and some areas blackened, JPG images without EXIF tags and some areas blackened, PNG images with alpha masks,
Control points: all of them tested with or without tiepoints
Quality: The downscaling factor for alignment was always 4.

There were several kinds of crashes:

  1. Program closing without warning and a window showing: “Application already running.”

  2. RC reporting an error and producing the Minidump. I then submitted those.

  3. Program quitting and no message at all.

  4. No errors, but alignment quits without any components produced. No logs in console.

I am currently trying to find a pattern between the crashes, but it seems very random. However, one thing i found out is that the crash behavior is different for pressing start in the ‘Alignment’ or pressing start in the ‘Workflow’ section.

Hello,

How is the processing in RC with normal not prepossessed pictures? Do you get errors too?

Normal jpg images with EXIF tags work fine, without any errors. So I assume it must be something that happens during the preprocessing steps. But again: the strange thing then is, that feature detection and matching also works fine, the errors occur during the ‘processing’ step.

hello, “The application is already running” notification appears when you try to run RealityCapture anew but it is still/already running.
