This has been an issue for me since 4.9 I believe. Whenever I try to import an FBX the importer gets to the point of importing the animation then freezes up and crashes. Ive looked into other instances of the issue and the recomendation was to export the asset with the 2014/2015 FBX exporter; I tried this and I still get the same result.
Here is a text file containing the callstack from the crash.
and here is the test FBX im using
I have seen an issue like that in 4.9 I imported to 4.8 and then upgraded the project to 4.9. Don’t know the cause of the issue. It will also crash 4.10
Quick question, do any of your joints have a rotation order other than XYZ? There is a bug where any rotation orders other than XYZ will crash or import no animation, but this is fixed in 4.11.
Actually, looking at your fbx, there are a lot of extra assets that are unnecessary (i.e. two skeletons, animation controls, a whole separate mesh, and a ton of transforms). Please export only the mesh and joints from your scene.
Could you outline the correct export process for me? I usually just click export all.
Apologies for the delay in response, I’ve been out sick.
Generally, if you have two skeletons, you’ll want to select only the bone heirarchy of the desired and the mesh, then use Export Selected to get only those assets in your fbx. (This is assuming Maya, what software are you using?)
Yeah im using maya; i will try doing it this way and see what happens.
