Did you do a convert in place? or open a copy for conversion?
Could you probably repost your log (seems like it has been removed)? Also make sure to report your crash on answerhub: https://answers.unrealengine/index.html
Copy as recommended.
https://answers.unrealengine/questions/188975/opened-my-current-wip-in-471-and-it-crashed.html < there is that.
://pastebin/2YrtuWse < crash report from editor.
thx
Yeah neighbor, I have had the same thing happen, each and every time I have updated engine builds. That’s why I stopped upgrading engines, sticking with 4.6, got too much done at this point to have to start over again
EDIT EDIT: 472 does the same thing, crash after it 'try’s to load the level I’m working on. It seems you were very correct about this.
That’s a major setback for me then. I can’t imagine for the life of me, that there isn’t some way to get around this. I never had any of this happen in unity so if this is ‘just the way it is’ for upgrades here, that’s going to be a major issue for me going forward.
I can’t thank you enough for mentioning this, but undeniably its very depressing news.
I’ll try 4.7.2 and hope for better luck.
Thanks for your honesty!
Cheers

THis isn’t directed to you Kingmatty, as I appreciate you willingness to be open and transparent about this.
I do however now, wonder why no epic employee has commented about this, given I upgraded to 4.72 and its doing the same thing.
I also tried convert , and same crash.
I was told once by h. I think it was, that epic doesn’t want us upgrading ‘unless we need to’, and now this happens. Did I miss documentation somewhere stating what needs to be done to upgrade from v X to X ?
thx
