Since the last update my program is ALWAYS crashing once I want to recalcute on high detail, really frustrating.
Even projects which did a succesful job in the past now always crash my pc when I start to calculate.
I need your urgent help as I need this to be able to do my job!
Otherwise I have to go back to Agisoft.
Can you help me solve this issue?
Otherwise, can I download the previous version of CapturingReality somewhere?
I tried to look for it but I can’t seem to find it, which is sad as it may do the trick for me.

As a side note I can say that since I installed Windows 10 my MSI G97 Gaming 9 AC computer setup seems to be less stabile.
Maybe it is a conflict with RealityCapture and Windows 10 causing the crashes?
I did already update my windows to the latest version, as so did my drivers including the Killer Network driver has been updated.
PC Setup:
32GB RAM memory
1TB free space
GeForce GTX 970 -> version 368.81
Windows 10
i7-4790k CPU @ 4.00GHz

Message when RealityCapture starts (I already cleared cache)
It usually goes into a several seconds of the high calculation and then my pc crashes (no BSOD but inmediate black screen and restart).
I have tried to set my Nvidia settings to allow the program to use more extensive settings from the GPU but that only made a difference one time.
That one time instead of the computer crashing it went on longer in the reconstruction phase but then CapturingReality gave an error: INVALID FUNCTION CALL.
After that I tried reinstalling RC, wipe all the cashe and restart the project from scratch (new alignment of photos)
But I got back to the same results; computer crashing after a few seconds of calculating in high mode, even with the higher GPU settings.
The GPU by the way is constantly hanging around 100% usage and the temperature goes up to 70-80 degrees.
Is it a problem with cooling or temperature treshold which causes it to crash the pc out of safety measurement?
Just thinking…
The project itself only uses 93x 5MP photo’s so I don’t think this can be an issue on my promo license.
What do you suggest I should do?
I know I have this issue since I did the mandatory upgrade of RC, so that’s why I think it is because of this latest update.
For all I know the previous version of RC never gave me problems like this.
Also I updated to Windows 10 recently but I have succesfully ran 10-15 projects on the previous RC version with Windows 10 installed.

RC is not able to crash the PC like this, if the PC is restarting, then it can be caused by overheating of the GPU or some GPU drivers issues ( I have read about some W10 issues related to drivers ), but for now try to cool the GPU with help of the MSI afterburner: http://download.msi.com/uti_exe/vga/MSI … rSetup.zip and set the fan speeds up a bit, so that the GPU is properly cooled ( under 70 degrees ) + set the fan speeds like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqRhKA4EEaQ
I have already tweaked the fans as did so the maximum temperature but it doesn’t help.
I did the PSU test but also that is ok. It calculates I need around 450 watt but I have a 750 watt PSU.
All I can say is that I always run 2-3 very heavy programs all at the same time (RealityCapture + 3DS Max + Mudbox + Meshmixer + Agisoft Photoscan + 3D Coat + Memento + Photoshop)
As still today I can run 2-3 of those programs at the same time all doing heavy computation.
Before the last RC I never had a problem with doing high calculation on RC while doing heavy work in Meshmixer/3DS Max and keeping internet open.
Since I installed the last RC update RC always crashes my computer.
At this moment I am doing high calculation in Agisoft Photoscan, have Facebook and youtube video running and even typing this message to you.
I have no problems at all.
Temperature of my GPU runs at 35° steadily while doing all of this. While GPU usage is around 5%
When I do high calculation with RC the temperature goes up to 60-70 after 1-2 minutes before crash.
Also the GPU usage stays at 99% the whole time and lastly the PC crashes.
So I can only conclude that the reason for the crash is of RC.
Since my hardware is more capable of the recommended requirements of RC I can only conclude that RC’s LAST UPDATE is not running efficient and/or is conflicting with certain computer builds, especially mine.
Another issue can be that the data processing of RC core data coding is not efficient and causes a lot of leaks eventually causing system instability.
Did you read the crash log I have sent you?
Does it tell you something?
I repeat: can I get a download link to the previous RC update to test if this makes the difference?

In what step is the RC crashing ? just after High recon start or ?
This problem has happened to several users but they are not recognized as a software problem, they always tell you to look at the specifications of power and cooling, but the truth is that only happens with this program.

then I hope you will read also the THSI thread and get confirmation on other DELL setup that the cause of issues seems to be the malfunction of one of 3 GPUs in that system. So again it is not a direct RC issue…

I hope you truly understand how are PC resources allocated and used. I NEVER run multiple 3D-intensive programs ( as you mentioned ) even though I have a plenty of „headroom”+ use monitoring tools to see GPU RAM usage.
Once again, the reconstruction part of RC was NOT changed in this release, so I can say for 100 % it is not because of this.
If the PC is crashing ( look in the EVENT VIEWER for precise ID of the problem ), then look for some PC setup issues ( temperatures or power failures )
If you are interested, we can set up a remote session and I can take a deeper look at this…

I am pretty sure RC causes CPU overheating problems because of Its heavy process and some computer have the wrong settings to deal with that.
I changed the power plan settings on my pc and instead of 60c + temperatures my CPU runs now at merely 30-40c temperatures like a breeze.
Also I have found the reason why it crashes and will share it as I see other people have also this problem:

Go to POWER OPTIONS and change your advanced power plan.
Then go to POWER PROCESS MANAGEMENT and change the MIN STATE to 0% and the MAX STATE somewhere along 70-80%

Wishgranter, it may be useful to explain people in the future about this option as RC is the only program I know which causes overheating because of this.
As you said before RC uses all the maximum it can get, there is a downside to this which is computer overheating.
People should know how to handle your program’s power on their pc…
I almost bought new PSU and extra fans for more cooling because you directed me in that direction but it is not needed at all.
But if I understood it correctly now you have your CPU working at an 80% of it’s real full speed, so you have a slower computer now, probably something is wrong with your CPU cooling system, plus 60 degrees for a CPU is nothing, I had some of my computers working 100% 7 days a week and they were around 85 degrees (in Celsius) and not a single computer would crash.
You have to look your CPU cooling system, it maybe a bit loose our you may have to clean the dust from it, our you may have to reattach it cleaning the silver paste and putting some new paste.
Having the computer running at 80% of it’s capacity may help you to avoid crashes now, but it’s not a solution I think
