Fantastic course! Just wanted to note that there looks to be a small change in Unreal Engine 5.1 compared to 5.0 which the course uses.

In Part 2, adding Animation > Level Sequence, looks like Unreal Engine 5.1 has moved this to Cinematics > Level Sequence . It took me a while to find it, it looked it had been removed, but it’s just been moved from Animation to Cinematics in the dropdown menu.

I’ve been waiting for a course like this for a long time. I’m sure it will be interesting, thank you!

Step 2 video, with the camera, I couldn’t follow along. I think the instructor used many UE customizations and thought they were standard. I couldn’t follow along because the things to click on within UE didn’t exist in my new download of UE.

The thing is the author uses UE 5.0. The next version (5.1) has slightly different UI which can be quite puzzling. I also got stuck on the 2nd video and installing 5.0 helped me.

For beginners learning the UI still:

If you are struggling to find a certain item anywhere within UE5, and you know the name of what you’re looking for. Simply “right-click” inside the UI window you’re using (in this case it’s the “Content Browser” window) and start typing the name of what you are looking for, “Level Sequence”.

Don’t look for a search field, just start typing, and it will instantly bring up the results if any. :sparkles:

Hi everyone,

Need some help please.
I’ve added my Sequence and SK_Bit, and set up some animations in the sequence as shown in the tutorial. However, when the instructor adds the FK Control Rig, she right-clicks and goes to “FK Control Rig” where she finds an option labeled “Additive” (see attached image).

Here’s where I’m having trouble:

  1. Location of Additive Option:
I’m using Unreal Engine 5.4, and things seem to have changed slightly from the tutorial version. For me, the “Additive” option only appears if I right-click on the FKControlRig and navigate to “Add Section” where I find “Additive” or “Absolute.” Can someone confirm if this is the correct way to access the Additive setting in this version? Is there another location or method to apply Additive settings in Unreal 5.4?

  2. Rig Visibility and Animation Blending:
Following the steps in the tutorial, my FKControlRig does not disappear after being added. Additionally, after running the Editor Utility Widget “Prep Character,” my pre-existing animations are not blending with the FKControlRig as expected. Even though the FKControlRig is applied, my character just stays in its initial pose without combining the previous animations.

Any advice or guidance on these points would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Sergio

Hi everyone,

I think I’ve found the solution to my earlier question, and it might be helpful for anyone else working through these tutorials with Unreal Engine 5.4 or newer.

To achieve the Additive effect in the sequence:

1.Right-click on the FKControlRig:
In the updated version, it’s now labeled “Convert to Layered” instead of “Additive.” Once you select this option, it should function as expected, layering the FKControlRig over your existing animations.

  1. Regarding the “Prep Character” Widget:
It seems running this Editor Utility Widget isn’t necessary for the blending to work. After converting to the layered setup, the animations should combine correctly without needing to use the widget. However, I’ll experiment more to confirm this completely.

Hope this helps anyone else who might be facing the same issue!
