hey all - i have a lot of vegetation that is in max format and I would love to have them in twinmotion. I can export them as fbx and everything works fine when i import them into TM. apart from the textures, which i have to correct one by one - it gets time consuming especially on complex geometry like vegetation. does anyone have a trick on how to get the textures to show up correctly inside TM? Possibly by another format export from 3ds max?
Hello ,
Thank you for posting in the community regarding how to export from 3ds max for Twinmotion. I was wondering if you can provide more details to what you mean you need to fix them one by one? Maybe there is an issue with how the textures are applied and not being exported with the FBX?
Do you have any errors or message during the export of the FBX:
"The following maps are only supported by 3ds Max; they will not be recognized by other applications. To learn how to convert them so they will be compatible with other applications, see the Render Map Dialog topic in the 3ds Max documentation."
Did you have Embed Media selected?

Hope this helps and if you are still having issues please contact us directly (by submitting a bug) and provide the 3ds Max file and any texture/image that might be needed. Submit bug form: https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/case-community-page
We are working on improving and developing the 3ds Max Datasmith Exporter plugin and not sure if that will resolve the issue but you can download/install the lates 5.0.3 plugin. Then use the File > Export option and select the udatasmith format. Once exported you can then import the udatasmith file from the Import > Geometry menu in Twinmotion.

Thanks a lot for your detailed answer Vincent, always so helpful! Installing the datasmith exporter did the trick for me - no need to export to fbx anymore.
