Correct Rigging Workflow

Hello !

After 2 days of searching and attempts to do a rig for my character without success, i’m going here to ask for your help.

I made a really simple LowPoly Character but the rigging process in Unreal seems really specific. (More difficult than in Unity)

So, i have this character :

I tried to export the Default Character skeleton but i get this awful rig
And when i remove the strange bones, Unreal crash with this message : “Failed to merge bones”

And when i tried to use this one, i get this awful result :

Soooooo … is there a clean skeleton for basic creation ?

What is the best workflow for rigging for Unreal.

And is it a good way to attach props to the character ?

Is it a problem of the chararacter is made of multiple meshes ?

I’m using C4d, have I to use Maya or an other program to get better product ?

i got stuck at the same point and was wondering about the extra bones in particular can anyone help here?

so i was wondering the same thing as i am just getting into animation,

question for op did you solve this issue? I am particularly wondering about the extra bones myself as i have gotten this far before and ended up confused and stuck at this point myself.

I am using maya lt 2017
