Hello! I just noticed today that Epic has the “Mars 2030 Editor” in the Epic game store, for free!
I’m able to play it in the included editor, but thought it would be cool to export or reuse some of the levels, assets, etc into a UE5 project? I tried to use these steps to convert the whole thing to a UE5 project, but I can’t seem to get VS2015 to install.
- Download Mars 2030 from EGS
- Open the project in the included UE4 editor.
- “Add new → New C++ Class” to get the source for the editor (which is required for the “Switch Engine Version” option to work) → “You must first install Visual Studio 2015” → Install Visual Studio 2015
- The VS2015 installer starts, but can’t download all the needed packages. I also tried to download the DVD installer from MS directly…
Does anyone have VS2015 installed and working? If so, you want to try to get the source to use the “Switch Engine Version” on this project to convert it to a newer UE5 install?
It has some pretty good looking interiors, exteriors, vehicles, etc. For anyone looking into a game on Mars (or similar planet) could be really nice to have the assets?
