Convert Sprites to Skeletal Mesh

Aloha,

6 months ago, i saw a video showcasing a tool, which was able to convert Sprites (the render geometry of Paper2D sprites, to be precise) into skeletal meshes. I assume, it would read the render geometry, create an identical static mesh, which then can be converted to a skeletal mesh.
Question is, is this tool anywhere available, or will it become part of UE? Or does anyone know, where to get it?

Here is the Youtube video showing that tool (at 3.30 min):

And a slowed down version of that whole process:

Have a splendid day

Any updates?

Unfortunately not, no one seems to know anything concrete about it :frowning:

I can now answer this question, because that plugin got released  The name of this free plugin is “Sprite to Skeletal Mesh”, and you can find it on this site:

Video demo of it in action, especially the part where it converts the render region of sprites into said skeletal meshes:

I’m actually working on a faster tool that allows you to go directly from sprite to mesh and also bring the materials and UVs along…
You can shrink wrap each align them in the character designer convert to skeletal mesh or apply them to sockets on the provided skeleton and animate with the provided control rig.
