This is probably a very noobish question, but I have to ask as I am having trouble finding the answer myself. I have imported objects from 3ds . They are not showing as brushes when I import them, I don’t know if that is or is not an issue though. The problem I am having is that the move and transform gizmo is not on the center of my imported objects when I click on them. Is there a way to change that? I know I can move the gizmo to them, but the gizmo does not stay there if I click on something else. I really need it to automatically be in the center of the object when I click it. Now, I notice that the gizmo is always in the center when I click on a brush.
Am I supposed to convert my imported items to brushes? Am I supposed to re-create the items as brushes? Thank you for any help.
Thanks. About not changing a mesh to a brush, that is actually a plus for me.
As for the pivot, that actually is what I do, but the problem still persists. In 3ds the pivot is right as I should be, at 0,0,0 with the mesh, but in UE it is in the middle of nowhere when I click on the actor. I can move it but if I click something else then click it, it goes right back to the middle of nowhere. This makes things horribly inconvenient. I have went through all the pivot settings in 3ds and I see nothing that I could possibly do different. I will post a screen shot. Are there any specific settings I should be looking for in 3ds ? I can not see them if there are. Thanks again guys.
I agree with on this one. Double-check that your mesh in is moved to the world origin before export. If you’re still having issues with this can you post an image of your mesh in when you’re preparing to export.
One way to make sure you’re pivot of your mesh in is at the World Origin is by selecting your mesh with the move/translation tool > zero out the xyz values here to center your meshes pivot.
If you’re still having issues with this feel free to ask any questions!
Confirmed, 0,0,0. But that is okay though, I have actually learned to have my objects import to exactly where I need them without needing to make adjustments.
