I didn’t know how to edit my last post in order to update it, so I made a new one
I’m very excited to show what we’ve been able to achieve by only using UEFN!
What you see here is the start to a drivable boat in Fortnite, special thanks to @jstKamui!!! He made a script that basically makes the boat move but also retain it’s rotation and keeps advancing in that direction. I won’t go into details, it is up to him to explain how he did it, as that’s all his genius!
Once that was done, @VysenaWoyka added some UI elements through script and a timer device outside of the verse script because “sleep” was causing us to crash with the UI elements lol.
We’re learning so much as we go, we’ll keep working on making something more complete, but here is what it’s at now:
Here is the boat from other angles
This is when I realised realistic textures won’t look good on an “anime” boat
GroupPaint and MatEd are such easy ways of painting different meshes
I only used textures for wood or metals, because basic colors work so much better for an anime style
I found out you can change colors of almost anything in UEFN and that’s so satisfying
I followed Evans Bohl youtube tutorial to make a toon outlines shader, he does an amazing job at explaining everything that’s happening when making it. Also in the end, you end up with a very complete and customizable shader.
I followed a quick tutorial from Matt Aspland to make a cell shader, but I think I’m going to have to recreate it because I’m having some issues with it.
It took me so long to find this post processing volume?
These are the issues I’m encountering with the cell shader, the skin of my Fortnite character becomes completely white, or holograms from devices don’t show any image…
And also did anyone else encounter this bug? I basically placed a Ocean we can find in the content browser, but when jumping in it I’m attracted to the bottom of the water and can’t really swim out of it…Did I miss a setting somewhere?
I’ll update when we’ve done some more
