Control Rig Spring Interpolate breaks when using constraints

Been using Control Rig for awhile on a project I’m working on in 5.5.3 and I have rigs for both characters and props. I usually use spring interpolate (quat) for adding secondary motion and works fine on its own.

However, whenever I use a parent constraint to have one control rig to follow another (control rig A’s root control to follow a control on control rig B), spring interp (as far as I can tell) simply breaks and just rotates in a random direction and/or simply stops working altogether, no matter what control I constraint it to. I was hoping to have it be influenced any movement from the control it’s constrainted to but I have to turn spring interp off instead any time a character picks up a rigged prop of some sort. Attaching the whole actor is one work around but then the prop rig no longer reacts to what’s attached to

Anyone had this issue before or managed to get this working with constraints? Otherwise I might consider this a potential bug (unsure if it’s been fixed in 5.6 or not).
