Control RIG: How to lock selectability on Control Rig's mesh?

I saw that 5.5 added the "Toggle viewport selectability between Sequencer-only objects and all objects.

That’s great!! But how do I stop the Control rig MESH from being selected? I accidentally select it all the time.

I found a workaround by creating a new level, nesting under the persistent level, adding the mesh to the new level and locking that new level…

but I was wondering if there was an OFFICIAL/simpler way to do it.

If you are in Animation Mode and you have Only Select Rig Controls, it shouldn’t be selecting the mesh.
