Control Rig for a Camera. This doable?

I want to create a 3 control camera rig using control rig for the cine camera. I have tried this in both 4.27 and 5.03. Any thoughts on how to get this to work?

I have created my rig.

I made a blue print with a cine camera and applied the control rig to it.
I even tried mapping the control like it says to do in the document.

But I the controls won’t move the camera.

So I got this working some what.

I can pop the control rig into the sequencer and match the transforms and attach a camera to it. Works great like that.

For some reason when I combine all this into a Blue print the controls don’t move the camera. I did manage to get this to work in 4.27 but not 5 for some reason.

If anyone knows why feel free to chime in please

I’m not sure the tools have evolved that far.
Have a look at this recent video.

You could create the above rig that affects a single bone. Add that control rig to a BP and attach a cine cam to the bone socket of the Control rig.

Your suggestion of adding the CR to the sequencer and then parenting a cam is also a good one but that’s the kind of fragmented workflow we’re both trying to avoid adopting.

CR is still evolving so hopefully the BP & timeline integration will get better citizenship over time.

Oh wow, I forgot I asked this question, so rarely someone responds to me. I did get this to work in UE5.0; I haven’t used it since, so it might be buggy now.

However, for anyone that stumbles upon this thread I will post everything you will need to make it.

For the BP_Camera

Skeletal Mesh is just a cube imported as a skeletal mesh

The Control Rig

Just put the Camera Blue Print in the sequencer and animate the controls

This should get anyone started now.

Yes, the UE forums have always been lonely.
