Independent fantasy sandbox / survival / action RPG project in Unreal Engine.
A multiplayer survival/action RPG template and licensed fantasy asset packs are already in place. Looking for an experienced Unreal developer to help evaluate the current project and define the safest, fastest path toward a cleaner custom prototype.
This is not a from-scratch build. The priority is to work practically within the existing framework, preserve what is useful, identify what should be simplified or removed, and avoid unnecessary rewrites.
The project is currently in prototype / pre-production. Additional details can be shared with shortlisted candidates.
Current foundation includes:
- existing Unreal multiplayer survival/action RPG template
- licensed fantasy character, item, and environment content
- a project direction focused on adaptation and customization rather than rebuilding from zero
Important note:
The first engagement is a paid technical audit / integration planning milestone.
Talent Required:
Unreal Engine Developer (1)
Requirements:
- strong Unreal Engine experience
- strong Blueprint experience
- C++ experience is a plus
- experience working with existing Unreal templates / frameworks
- experience with multiplayer gameplay systems
- experience with inventory / equipment systems
- experience with item interaction systems
- experience with save / persistence systems
- experience with building / placement systems is a plus
- experience adapting marketplace / Fab assets into a cohesive game is a plus
First Contract / Milestone 0:
Paid technical audit + integration plan
Goal:
- review the current template, project structure, and licensed assets
- identify what should be kept, simplified, removed, or deferred
- identify the highest-risk technical areas
- review the current character/content integration pipeline
- evaluate how safely replacement content can be integrated into the project
- recommend the safest and fastest path for the next implementation milestone
Expected deliverables:
- short written technical assessment
- keep / remove / defer recommendations
- major risks and assumptions
- recommended next-step implementation plan
- rough estimate for the next milestone after actual project review
This first milestone is not expected to include major production work, large-scale content replacement, or full system rewrites.
What I want from the contractor:
- ability to understand an existing Unreal project quickly
- good judgment about what to preserve vs replace
- practical thinking about integrating licensed assets into the framework
- clear communication
- milestone-based work
- maintainable Blueprint / code organization
- no unnecessary overengineering
