Job Title: Contract Artist for UI Art & Animated Title Screen
Location: Remote (Global)
Job Type: Contract, Project-Based
About the Project:
We are developing a new version of our state certified commercial bingo software. Version 1 is fully functional, and deployed to many locations throughout Texas. Version 2 is a full remake, in development, approaching a Beta. However, we need a professional artist to overhaul the look to provide an engaging user experience for our players. The app is nearly feature-complete, but the current user interface lacks polished artwork, and multiple themes for players to select.
We are seeking talented, creative artists to design and create all necessary art assets for the game, from UI elements to animated title and background screens. The ideal candidate will design a visually captivating art style, with an aesthetic that appeals to our bingo players. The artwork should be visually striking, yet easy on the eyes, as players may spend extended periods watching these screens while they play.
Scope of Work:
Title Screen:
- Design an eye-catching animated title screen that captures the player’s attention.
- The animation should be smooth and visually appealing to watch repeating on a loop.
UI Art Assets:
- Create all necessary UI elements, including but not limited to menus, buttons, icons, sliders, bingo cards, special effects, game info, and HUD elements.
- Ensure all UI elements are designed with accessibility, readability, and usability in mind.
- Design a flexible layout that supports various aspect ratios (4:3 to 16:9) with scalable elements and proper margins.
Unique Themes:
- Develop at least two complete themes for the UI that players can select:
- Default Theme: A core theme that is transitioned to from the title screen by default, which is appropriate for most players if they don’t choose a different theme. Perhaps classic casino aesthetics (e.g., Las Vegas green felt and classic card designs).
- Secondary Theme(s): At least one additional theme design (e.g., lucky clovers, gold dragons, or other casino-appropriate themes) to offer variety to the player.
- Themes should be designed to appeal to all audiences, keeping the artwork tasteful, captivating, and easy to look at.
Theme Backgrounds:
- Develop dynamic, visually appealing backgrounds for the game play area, which is visible when the player has no bingo cards displayed.
- These backgrounds should be designed to match the theme, and may include subtle animations to keep players interested.
Special Effects:
- Create special effects for key moments in the game, such as when the player is one ball away from winning, or has won bingo.
- These effects may tie into the theme to enhance the thematic differences.
- The player should see a rewarding, full-screen effect played when they win bingo that you can’t miss.
Offline Mode Theme:
- In the event of a network failure, players must still be able to play bingo by manually entering the number that is called. If the unit goes offline, a special layout with one card and a number keypad is displayed.
- This offline layout must be displayed with a bright, easily identifiable color scheme that is not included in any other theme, like magenta or bright red. Whatever color is chosen will be restricted from inclusion in other themes. Therefore, a specific color must be chosen and reserved for offline mode, something easily spotted from across a large space.
Skills and Experience:
Required:
- Strong portfolio showcasing 2D art, UI design, and game appropriate art assets, with a focus on high-quality, visually appealing work.
- Proven experience with UI art asset creation for video games, preferably in the mobile, gaming, or casino space.
- Experience creating polished, animated title screens.
- Proficient with necessary design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Figma, etc.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to project specifications.
Nice to Have:
- Experience designing art for mobile or casino-themed games.
- Solid understanding of UI/UX design principles, accessibility best practices, and user-friendly interfaces.
- Familiarity with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine, especially for asset integration.
