Hello, i looked everywhere and since i dont have BIOS knowledge, i prefer to ask it here and see if this has an “easy” workaround. My Unreal Editor and game crashes almost every time and i have to reopen Unreal Editor until it works. Then it will crash again when i save something or open a file. I have Out of Memory crashes too once in a while. Has someone come with a solution not involving BIOS tweaks? Thanks in advance, i’m desperate because my new desktop is only a few months old.
It’s a 13th gen Intel Processor so it’s prone to micro-code errors on the side of the CPU (your model is specially mentioned in dozens of articles).
You should update your motherboard bios or you will have damage to your CPU over time. Putting off a Bios upgrade is very bad for your CPU. It’s getting too high voltage from the motherboard slowly frying the paths in your CPU causing it to be internally damaged. This is irreversible.
Download a new bios and update your PC. Find your motherboard manufacturer, go to the support page. Find your motherboard model and download a new version of it’s bios to a usb drive.
Motherboards usually have a USB slot to update bios. Follow the motherboard instructions how to flash your bios.
Ensure you fetch BIOS that includes “microcode 0x129” - it will be mentioned on the mobo manufacturer’s site as everyone in the know owning a 13 & 14 Intel is in a panic mode of sorts right now.
This is irreversible.
Indeed, chances are you are unlucky and your CPU has been permanently damaged - the only option is to RMA it.
Luckiliy, i could update the BIOS succesfully! It has the microcode 0x129 so i think i’m good to go. Thank you so much, now i only get crashes for adding a variable in a struct into a struct already referenced by a lot of blueprints, which is quite understandable
Thanks again, i was so scared!
