Hi, I am really sorry if anything similiar issue post exist already!
Description:
My team and i decided to use perforce for source control and faced an annoying issue after starting using it. If you add a new *.uasset in the editor (e.g. create a new empty blueprint) and submit it to perforce via editor on machine 1 and want this change visible and added on machine 2 by doing a sync via editor, the new created BP won’t show up in the content browser until you restart your editor!
Reproduction:
Set up a perforce server and connect the editor to that perforce server on 2 different machines with different workspaces and users
Create new empty C++ project and submit it via perforce visual client, sync it on the machines and open the project
Machine 1: create a new folder, name it “Blueprints” and add a new empty blueprint
Machine 1: add and submit the blueprint to perforce via the editor
Machine 2: sync changes via editor
Machine 2: now the blueprint and folder won’t show up in the content browser! But, if you look on your harddrive you can actually see the newly added folder and blueprint *.uasset!
Machine 2: restart the editor and you can see the folder + blueprint
We attempted reproducing this with both a local repository and online as in your original reproduction and did not see this issue occur in either case. Could it possibly be that the two PCs are using different versions of the editor, even if it’s only different by a CL# rather than by an entire version? Can you also provide log files from both of the editor sessions when reproducing this issue?
We haven’t heard from you in a while, bernhardrieder91. Are you still experiencing this issue? If so, can you provide the information I requested in my previous post? In the meantime, I’ll be marking this issue as resolved for tracking purposes.
I have this exact same problem. Both me and my friend have the files physically on our harddrive, he has it in his editor aswell.
I can see the files in the perfoce server depot also, i can force download them (Get revision), but still they dont show up in editor but appear in windows explorer locally. All files are .uasset files and straight from him (working) and both of us has fresh UE downloads and blueprints only… We have worked back and forth then after an hour or so, this happens.
