Constraining the player

Hi!

So I’m working on a project in unreal in which I am trying to create a grapple hook system similar to that of the ODM Gear from AOT. I’m currently early in on working on it, and am trying to create a system in which a player can grapple onto specific spots by pressing Q, and upon releasing Q, they will release their hook.

The problem that I am having is that I have no idea how to make the player swing from the hooked point, as no matter what I try, the player just falls. I have attempted to use a physics constraint, but it doesn’t work, as I am using the First Person Character starter blueprint as a base for my project, to save some time, and it breaks if I enable physics.

So in short, is there any way I could get Physics Constraints to work, or is there another way I could allow my character to swing when they hook onto the as before mentioned points?

Hi Minecraftkitch, Welcome to the forums.

I think it’s great that you’re trying to figure this out, and when you do, you’ll have a much deeper understanding of the systems at play.

But, I wanted to mention that you’ll definitely find some youtube vids on this subject and/or you’ll find some completed grapple systems on the UE Marketplace
