Hi , I am trying to build a small enviroment and am not even done making landscape and i have had about 25 D3D crashes. as advised i used DDU gpu driver remover and reinstalled. i have a powerfull PC AND NO OTHER ISSUES OUTSIDE OF ue5. Just need some advice on this error. thanks
You need to post a crash stack here. Or log if you have one.
Cause it’s almost not possible to answer w/o having any clues.
It may be TDR error, or any other issue.
Ill load up and wait for another crash. And ill post them. I read a post elsewhere that showed this was a problem with certain gpus in ue4 but the bug reports shows it as resolved, however the solution suggested did not work.
There are a lot of people asking about D3D crashes,
please add more details… and a screenshot…
I think you are talking about this, I hope it helps:
UE4 is fine with exact same project, i do assume lumen is active yes as i follow this tutorial Unreal Engine 5 Beginner Tutorial - UE5 Starter Course! - YouTube. not sure wht path tracing is so if its off by default then no. no cinematics. i turned project settings down to lowest. i am starting more course work today s as soon as it crashes ill post rpt logs. i went to uni this morning and about 4 other students told me they also have same issues d3d crash and have reverted back to ue4. unfortuantly my course work i need to work in nanite as this was part of my dissertation so i dont have luxury of using ue4. i guess i could build the game in ue4 bnut would rather use ue5.
Its so far just a simple landscape with some trees and rocks nothing too intensive. so not sure wht is causing it.
10 min in and boom

I have logged a Bug report since am convinved not on my end with others in my class having same issue. is there an older version of engine might be better to try?
Ok, we are talking about ultra cinematic realistic settings… while we are editing, adding, removing,…
At this point of the project what matters is to be comfortable, and it doesnt means ugly at all! And there is a lot of variables…
May I suggest somtehing?
Take a look in the marketplace and find: MW Birch Trees Forest Biome
Amazing isn’t?
well here you have the whole settings:

Juat make a copy of yours and try
Enjoy
Its a fantastic asset pack ,unfortunatly it is not somthing i can spend RN i can only work with free assets at. ty for advice i logged a bug report to EG hopefully in future update it gets fixed whatever the issue is.
Hi,
you can try to follow the fix explained here in the documentation:
As others suggested, it seems to be related to TDR errors, due to a mix of NVIDIA drivers, and DirectX APIs
Noo I mean, just use the settings for your project!
https://www.mawiunited.com/support/bhf/DefaultEngine.ini
I have updated the ini file to use this hopes this help thanks , also made the 2 reg keys as reccomended above.
unfortuntaly this makes the entire project black with no shaders.
neither the ini fix or the 2 reg key fix has worked still getting a crash every 10 min or so.
DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG is a common driver issue. (in worst case it’s GPU hardware issue)
I am confident its not a hardware issue on my end. i have post on UE5 facebook and about 8 others have same issue, theres open bug on the dev forums for D3D issues, theres 4 or 5 other students in my uni class with same error. well thanks to this stupid error am possibly going to fail one module as i tested the engine for 2 weeks prior to my unit starting to avoid these issues. during my stress testing everything was fine and now half way through my project its a dead engine for me. and since my project has to include nanite and lumen am screwd lol its due Monday haha
What hardware is used on those PCs, which drivers? Was TDR fix applied?
Copy/paste:
There is a lot of “possible solutions” but in the end William knows why
What I understand is we are trying to check lumen, virtual textures, raytracing, patchtracing and whatever it sound good to us, and…
Take a look to this one, i did download for ue5 and never crashes to me, and is amazing:
So what I did is to download some projects I like… and copy/paste settings!!
I have completely resolved my issue by using GPU underviolting without loosing performance (the main resolver) + Nvidia Studio drivers (seems like it is more stable then Game drivers):
Here is the video:
Reinstall the video drivers with clean installation!
