Connecting a blue tooth device to unreal engine

Hey,
im am working on a research project to have procedural world generation at run time depending on body data.
I got my first steps done but as my main experience lies in blueprinting and 3d art i have no idea how it would be possible to connect a
blue tooth device to unreal engine. I dont mind working myself into some c++ coding but i just dont know where to start.
So if anyone could point me in the right direction or has some ideas/experience it would be nice.
A concrete example would be to conect a heart rate monitor so that somehow i can use the heart rate as a variable in the game.
