ComponentBeginOverLap not working on Side Scroller Starter Kit

I’ve started working on a Side Scroller starter kit, but whenever I try to detect if the player is within a trigger volume or a component, it never triggers.

I’ve tried several options, like checking the player’s pawn location, etc., but it never works. Is there something obvious that I am doing wrong?

I found the problem, the default blueprint, “My character”, did not have its capsule component flagged to generate overlap events.
