Component Hierarchy wrong when actor placed in scene

I don’t know if I can put it more simply than this. Here’s my Blueprint

But when I place it in the scene, the hierarchy gets flattened.

This leads to all kinds of crazy behavior. When I move the actor in the scene, the static mesh doesn’t move since it’s not actually attached to the scene root in the hierarchy. This has gotta be a bug right?
