Component Ex-/ Import and (Ground) Control Points

I am just working on a complex project that I have been splitting into several chunks for better handling. I measured about 70 GCPs with a total station and also used several overlapping CPs. My plan was to export the chunks as registration and then combine them in one big project file via import as component. I assumed that all the GCPs that are named individually would be treated as the same points. I also assumed that CPs would be combined. I expected that because I did this workflow before and did not encounter any unwxpected behaviour.

Now however, when I import several components that contain overlaping GCPs, they will all be created as separate entities. This I find hard to understand an I think, as stated, that it used to be different.

Same with CPs, although I could understand if that were the case with automatically named points only and not with re-named ones.

Last, when I imported the components, images where I deactivated meshing and texturing were not imported with those settings but with everything enabled, which I think is counter-intuitive…

Hello Gӧtz,

please excuse my late response.

Just to clarify your situation, do you mean that you exported the CP measurements for the point with the same name in two components and when you import both measurements back, those are not listed under one CP?

Hi Zuzana,

not quite.

I have a list of about 70 GCPs from a theodolite measurement.

I start processing the model (a smallish house) in several batches (exterior and all levels separately) to save time and make it somewhat easier to spot problems.

In each of those components I import the same set of GCPs and when finished I export the final component as registration.

Then I create a new project and import all those components. And instead of just creating one GCP with a given name, I end up with as many variations of the same point as the number of components it has been used in. So instead of checking if there is already a point with a specific name and adding all the additional CPs into this one, RC creates a new point, unhelpfully with exactly the same name (instead of at least an index like with components).
