I know this kind of thread already here and there. But my case is different.
Hello everyone, from the look of the heading you have already guessed that i’m a Super Beginner to Unreal.
But you will be surprised to know that I have already developed some 2D and one 3D games in Unity after spending time on tutorials.
I find that Unity interface and coding is far far more easier then Unreal Engine’s interface and blueprints.
But in terms of cost Unreal is the boss not matter what you say.
So I know it is hard for me to dive into the Unreal Engine, but for the sake of cost I must.
I followed many tutorials inducing the provided tutorial in Unreal Website. I already have the grasp of Unreal UI.
But when I try to understand the Materials,Blueprint section I get completely lost. Cuz the tutorials provided
by Unreal Website or Youtube doesn’t explain them clearly that why this Node is needed, when we should use it,
how does it work. They just do this and that, with little bit of explanation and that’s it.
On the other hand Unity tutorials are much more detailed and very easily understandable or maybe i’m following wrong path
and that’s why Unreal tutorials are harder for me.
Please Guide me, I really want to learn Unreal Engine and Develop the same game in Unreal, that I already developed on Unity.
Tell me where to start, where to learn , what do I need to observe carefully.
The easiest way to learn the UE4 is to start a small project. During that you will have questions which you can ask here in the forum (we are always here to help) or you can use the documentation to search for a solution: https://docs.unrealengine/latest/INT/
So watch tutorials, take a look at the documentation, develop a small project, ask questions here in the forum and -> learning by doing.
i wouldn’t say unity tutorials is more detailed, videos on youtube from individuals may be.
But when it comes to documentation and wiki pages like this step by step tutorial https://wiki.unrealengine/First_Person_Shooter_C%2B%2B_Tutorial#Making_a_Character Then epic makes it easy for you to get started.
But i agree with you that it can be really hard to find the right tutorials for you tho.
Sry if im off topic and this wasn’t really the question.
Thats really strange question, obviously use it when you need it’s function. I think you realy on tutorials too much, learn basics about frame work and once you learn them, knowing what nodes does will be seamless.
Wow!!! guyz thank you all so much for the replays. I’m working really hard and already starting to get the hang of Blueprint. Its so much powerful and easy, I’m just speechless.
Well, I just started looking at the beginner tutorials. Then I started looking on YouTube, then I just started playing around, and now I am developing an open-world game after just 2 months of experience & free time.
