This video showcases a workflow for audio metering, spatialisation, and mastering in Unreal Engine using MetaSound, with Logic Pro integration via BlackHole. This approach allowed me to capture gameplay audio directly into the DAW and inspect it with Logic’s native metering tool, the Multimeter goniometer, and using a free plugin, Youlean Loudness Meter for integrated-LUFS monitoring. These insights were used to adjust gain staging both in MetaSound and Logic.
Attenuation and spatialisation are also covered, focusing on creative use of stereo spread and panning to shape depth, movement, and naturalistic sound behaviours. Spatial placement is treated as a compositional tool for guiding the listener and sculpting the sound environment.
This hybrid approach combines MetaSound’s real-time flexibility with DAW-based precision, producing immersive, balanced audio for experimental and interactive projects.
