Community Tutorial: How to Export Multiple LODs from Blender to Unreal Engine (Single FBX)

In this tutorial, I will demonstrate a complete and reliable workflow to export multiple Levels of Detail (LODs) from Blender into a single FBX file, ready to be imported into Unreal Engine.

The goal is to explain how to properly prepare meshes, name LODs correctly, and configure Blender’s export settings so that Unreal Engine automatically recognizes and assigns each LOD during import—without the need for manual setup inside the engine.

This workflow works for Skeletal Meshes (including MetaHumans) and Static Meshes, making it reusable across different projects. By the end of this tutorial, you will be able to:

Organize and manage multiple LOD meshes in Blender

Export all LODs into a single FBX file

Import the FBX into Unreal Engine with automatic LOD detection

Maintain an optimized and scalable asset workflow
