Community Tutorial: From the Classroom: Understanding Textures from Substance and ORM Master Materials

This series of videos is from a Game Design Pipeline course I teach for the British Columbia Institute of Technology in the 3D Modeling Art and Animation program. In the program, students use a variety of software such as Maya, the Substance Suite, Unreal Engine, Zbrush, Marvelous Designer, and more. This tutorial covers exporting your textures from Substance Painter and fully understanding how and what is being exported. It then covers how you should import those textures in Unreal and how you could build a Master Material to be able to accept those textures.

This lesson is taken from a class that goes at a pace to be able to follow along, while still getting the understanding of why we’re doing things.
